Organisational Sustainability
This is a critical area of our work.  We believe that a sustainable future is not only dependant on policy and implementation shifts at government, economy and civil society level but begins with our own organization and with our own behavior.  Thus we look not only at our organizational sustainability but also our personal lives and carbon footprints.  To this end we are doing the following:

  • We have designed and built our own offices: a ‘future-normal’ green building, which makes use of natural and recycled materials, feeds renewable energy into the grid and is designed to make the use of passive solar temperature regulation. This building uses 70% less energy than a standard commercial building.

  • We are proud of our work/life balance ethic because we believe quality of life and productivity are positively influenced when work, family, community and leisure are seen as equally important. As a result we have introduced a shorter working day, part-time work, telecommuting, and a culture of transparency where all staff have input into decision making processes. We are committed to reducing both our organizational and personal carbon footprints and we are developing a strategy on moving towards a per capita carbon footprint of less than 1 ton by 2015.
